Description

Indulge in the vibrant flavors of Delicious Pork Pozole Verde, a traditional Mexican dish that combines tender pork shoulder with tangy tomatillos and zesty green chilies. This hearty soup is perfect for gatherings or chilly evenings, offering a comforting experience in every bowl. Top it off with crunchy cabbage, fresh radishes, and a squeeze of lime for an explosion of freshness that will delight your senses.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs pork shoulder, cut into chunks
  • 6 tomatillos, husked and quartered
  • 2 green chilies (jalapeños or serranos), diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, whole
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 6 cups chicken broth or water
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage (for topping)
  • ½ cup sliced radishes (for topping)
  • Lime wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Season pork chunks with salt and pepper. Heat a large pot over medium-high heat and sear pork until browned (5-7 minutes). Remove from pot.
  2. In the same pot, sauté onion, garlic, and tomatillos until softened (about 5 minutes). Add green chilies.
  3. Return pork to the pot; add broth to cover ingredients by about an inch. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 2 hours until tender.
  4. Shred pork using two forks and return to the broth. Adjust seasoning as needed.
  5. Serve hot topped with shredded cabbage, sliced radishes, and lime wedges.
