Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp almond extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla and almond extracts.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients until fully combined to form a dough.
  4. Roll tablespoon-sized portions of dough into balls and place them on prepared baking sheets, pressing down gently into tree shapes.
  5. Bake for about 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden. Allow to cool before decorating with icing made from powdered sugar mixed with water or milk.
